Emotional Intelligence Executive Business Coaching

Good moods do galvanise good performance, however unrealistic optimism will be judged not to be authentic, patronising platitudes will not work. The business executive wont dress it up nor will they slump into despair.

One of the critical areas of focus in executive coaching is self-awareness, it is perhaps the most essential of the emotional intelligence competencies. The ability to read your own emotions. You know your strengths and weaknesses. However, they have an unshakeable sense of their self-worth. Resonant leaders use self-awareness to gauge their own moods accurately, and they intuitively know how they are affecting others.

Self Management

The ability to control ones emotions and select the appropriate response rather than some conditioned explosion that can trigger emotional flooding in the situation. Worst it shuts down communication and stops the flow of creative synergistic cooperation found by those under strong but balanced leadership.

Social Awareness

Outstanding leadership qualities as espoused by Jim Collins are inner directed and they orchestrate the conditions for people to move from good to great. They nourish rather than punish and continuously coach others, empowering people to excel, to contribute.

Relationship Management

Now an imperative in leadership. Those with a strong sense of positive regard for self and others excel in their relationships. The battle of the egos has now been replaced by a search for creative collaboration. Puts downs are not tolerated ,but at the same time team players are made aware of personal accountability to the organisation its goals and values. This is genuine authentic mentoring with everyone encouraged to play, this is EI leadership.

Intra Personal Intelligence

This is the most essential dimension of emotional intelligence. It includes several characteristics such as self-knowledge, optimism and resilience. EI executives have developed a strong inner purposeful drive, fully understanding the nature of finger print they leave on every transaction.

Interpersonal Intelligence

Most executives are fired because they lack the essential skills that stem from developed interpersonal intelligence. High performance is highly correlated with our ability to communicate effectively with our partners at all levels within the business.

Fortunately these skills can be honed, we are not hardwired to be combative, out real nature is one of creative collaboration. Great leaders influence the mood of the organisation. Recent research has shown that this significantly hits the bottom line.
